It's a baby....???

Okay, everybody.  We found out if the baby is a girl or a boy.  Many of you already know the answer, but for the sake of the blog, I will write this as if you do not.

Jason and I went to my doctor's appointment last week and our baby was not shy about showing us that it is a BOY!!!!  We were very surprised because we both thought it was a girl.  The girls were excited too, although I think they were both a little disappointed for a few minutes because they really wanted a baby sister.  It didn't take them long at all to begin to be excited about a baby brother.  It's just that we are all so used to girls around here that a little boy was pretty surprising.

Maleah's first questions were about whether or not she would ever have to share her room with him and as to whether or not she even had to allow him in her room.  When she was assured that she could keep her room a girl's only area, she was suddenly very okay with having a brother.  Following the questions about whose turf was whose, she wanted to know what was in the ultrasound picture that assured us that it was a boy.  She pointed to the picture as she asked me.  Okay, my girls know nothing about boys or their anatomy.  Let's just say that she does now.  I think the statement from the 1st grade boy at school who told her that his "weiner was pierced" suddenly made more sense to her because she didn't know what that meant before.

Carissa didn't have as many questions about the baby brother.  She just had one statement.  "But I wanted a baby sister."  As if I could change it.  She said in such a way like I had just ordered her a cheeseburger when she really wanted chicken nuggets.  I think she expected me to say "Oh, I'm sorry, I would like to change my order to a girl.  Thank  you."  I told her I couldn't change it but that a boy baby would be fun too.  That made her happy.

Here are a few interesting things about my little Miss Carissa:  1.  Her hobbies include peeling off Uppercase Living from my walls and front door when I am not looking, playing Legos all day long, watching tv, roller skating through the house, riding her scooter (very well) through the house, and talking constantly.  2.  She has been potty-trained for over a year now!  3.  She roars like a lion at least five times a day.  4.  She likes to sleep on her floor, next to her bed, but not on her bed.  5. Her favorite foods (meaning she takes 3 or 4 bites instead of just 1) are chicken noodle soup, donuts, potato chips, and Smarties.

A few interesting things about my Maleah are:  1.  She loves to read everything she sees.  2.  She is a very good bike rider and scooter rider.  3.  Her favorite food is chocolate.  4.  Her top front teeth are finally starting to come in after 6 months of a toothless grin.  5.  She has a very good sense of style.  6.  Her hobbies include arts and crafts, watching tv, singing, dancing, and talking constantly.

Well, I would like to write more but I have to go cook dinner.  : )  See you later!
